Your Privacy Matters

Privacy.

Range Bro is built for responsible gun owners. We take your data just as seriously as you take range safety. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how it's protected.

Information We Collect

Account & Profile

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. You may optionally provide a profile photo (avatar), username, bio, location, and gender. A skill-based quiz score is recorded after you complete the onboarding questionnaire — this determines your shooting rank within the community.

Meeting & Range Activity

We collect information about the shooting-range meetups you host or join, including meeting titles, descriptions, scheduled times, locations (linked to a real shooting range), participant lists, attendance status, rank restrictions, and any gear loadout details you choose to share (firearm platforms, build notes, ammo count, range gear).

Reviews & Ratings

After a meetup completes, participants may leave star ratings and written reviews for hosts and fellow attendees. These reviews (including the reviewer's identity) are stored and associated with the reviewed user's profile.

Loadout Images

You may upload photos of your range gear. These images are stored in Supabase Storage and linked to your account.

Feedback

If you submit in-app feedback (bug reports, feature requests, or general comments), we store the message along with your user ID and a category label.

Push Notification Token

When you enable push notifications on your device, we store your Expo Push Token to send you alerts about meetup activity. This token is cleared automatically when you sign out.

Waitlist Submissions

If you joined our pre-launch waitlist via the Range Bro website, we stored your email address solely to notify you when the app became available.

Session & Device Data

For security and fraud prevention, we log session metadata including IP address and user-agent (browser/device string) associated with each authenticated session.

02

How We Use Your Information

Core App Features

Your profile data, quiz score, and rank are used to match you with appropriate meetups and shooting partners. Meeting and participant data powers the scheduling and discovery experience. Loadout information is shared with other participants in a meetup to facilitate planning.

Communication

We use your email address to send transactional messages (account verification, password reset, subscription receipts). Your Expo Push Token is used to send in-app notifications about meetup updates, new participants, and community alerts.

Subscription Management

Your billing information is processed by Stripe. We store only Stripe-issued identifiers (customer ID, subscription ID, subscription status, and period-end dates) — we never store raw payment card data on our servers.

Safety & Trust

Peer reviews, ratings, and rank-based restrictions are used to build a trustworthy community and allow hosts to set appropriate skill-level gates for their meetups.

Product Improvement

Anonymised, aggregate usage patterns and in-app feedback are used to understand how the product is being used and to prioritise new features and bug fixes.

03

Third-Party Services

Stripe (Payments)

Pro membership subscriptions are processed through Stripe, Inc. When you upgrade, you are redirected to a Stripe-hosted checkout page. Stripe collects and stores your payment card details under their own Privacy Policy (stripe.com/privacy). We receive webhook events from Stripe to keep your subscription status current.

Stream Chat (Messaging)

In-meeting chat is powered by Stream (getstream.io). Your user ID and display name are synced to Stream when your account is created and updated. Stream may store message content and channel membership data on their infrastructure according to their Privacy Policy.

Supabase (Storage & Database)

Profile avatars and loadout images are stored in Supabase Storage. Our database (PostgreSQL) is hosted on Supabase infrastructure. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

Google & GitHub (OAuth Sign-In)

If you sign in using Google or GitHub, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from that provider. We do not receive or store your Google or GitHub password.

Expo (Push Notifications)

We use the Expo push notification service to deliver notifications to iOS and Android devices. Expo acts as an intermediary that routes messages to Apple APNs and Google FCM.

04

Data Sharing & Disclosure

With Other Users

Your public profile (display name, avatar, username, bio, location, quiz rank, and reviews) is visible to other Range Bro users. When you join or host a meetup, your name and avatar are visible to other participants. Loadout information you submit for a meetup is visible to other attendees of that same meetup.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

Range Bro does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information when required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, or investigate fraud.

05

Subscriptions & Billing

Pro Membership — $15/month

Range Bro offers an optional Pro membership at $15 per month, billed through Stripe. Pro members can host unlimited meetups, create recurring events, access early-join privileges, and display a Pro badge on their profile.

Free Tier

Free accounts may join public meetups and use in-meeting chat. Hosting meetups requires an active Pro subscription.

Cancellation

You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time via the billing portal accessible from within the app. Upon cancellation, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period, after which your account reverts to the Free tier. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months.

Subscription Data Retained

We retain Stripe customer and subscription identifiers even after cancellation for record-keeping, dispute resolution, and re-subscription purposes. We do not retain payment card data.

06

Data Retention & Deletion

Active Accounts

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.

Post-Meeting Cleanup

After a meeting concludes, certain transient data (e.g., chat channels, participant loadout details tied to the event) may be automatically cleaned up to reduce storage footprint, while aggregate attendance records are preserved.

Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at privacy@rangebro.app. Upon deletion, your profile, hosted meetings, loadout images, and reviews will be removed from our active systems. Some anonymised or aggregate data may be retained for analytics purposes.

Push Token Cleanup

Your Expo Push Token is automatically removed from our servers when you sign out of the app.

07

Your Rights

Access & Portability

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting privacy@rangebro.app.

Correction

You can update most profile information (name, avatar, bio, location) directly within the app. Username changes are subject to a 45-day cooldown policy.

Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. See the Data Retention & Deletion section above.

Opt-Out of Notifications

You may disable push notifications at any time in your device's system settings. This will prevent us from sending further push notifications to your device.

08

Security

Measures in Place

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS (TLS) for data in transit, database encryption at rest via Supabase, secure session token management via Better Auth, and role-based access controls on our API endpoints.

Limitation

No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We strive to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.
